The parent video tells the stories of seven families and
the approaches they used in coping with a parent’s cancer
diagnosis. Parents from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances
talk about what worked best in helping their children cope and how
the cancer experience presented an opportunity for the family to
grow and benefit from facing the challenge together.
The program
answers specific questions that parents have such as:
How do we break the news?
When do we break the news?
What questions will our children ask?
How will our children react?
Who else should we tell?
What changes can we expect?
Hosted by
Dr. Wendy S. Harpham, the program provides parents with clear and
easy to follow suggestions for finding both the words and the hope
to deal with difficult task of talking with their children about
cancer.
The parent video is 44 minutes in length and is presented
in standard VHS format.
